Area C

This Area is normally quite empty, with the exception of three very specific resonances:

• The RS―H stretch of thiols between 2590 cm^-1 and 2560 cm^-1.
  
  spectrum and molecular structure of triphenylmethanethiol
  
  
  
  
• The -C≡C- stretching frequency of alkynes (not visible for alkynes that are symmetric around the triple bond) between 2250 cm^-1 and 2100 cm^-1.
  
  spectrum and molecular structure of 1-hexyne
  
  
  
• The -C≡N stretching frequency of nitriles between 2260 cm^-1 and 2220 cm^-1.
  
  spectrum and molecular structure of adiponitrile
